( closed ) Give me one more night then I’m ready to let go...
Who: Natasha Graves Romanoff and Percival Graves
What: Being Exes
Where: New York
Warnings: All of them.
[ It was strange being back in MACUSA, back in a life she'd left behind after signing on the dotted line and absolving herself of all other things connected with her ex. There was only one reminder in her life of their whirlwind of a life, their child. That little girl was her world and she'd bring about the end of time to protect her, move heaven and earth. Which... is why she's back. She'd brought Nadya with her to New York, not trusting leaving her somewhere she couldn't reach in an emergency - a contingency of her best witches and wizards protecting her at the safe house. The private sector had its perks. It had afforded her a comfortable life without the Graves name and allowed her to be home every night with their daughter.
Something her ex never seemed to manage.
She'd known that going into the relationship, but at that time she'd been just as much of a workaholic as he still was. Unfortunately, the only hope she had left for a future with him resided in the name of their daughter - a tie she'd never sever. Of course, her desire for a fresh start was proving to be rather difficult considering past cases just kept rapping on her door and stalling her attempts to move on. And this one had her immediately returning to New York to put an end to it once and for all. She'd been a ruthless Auror before, willing to do whatever it took to close a case. And now, she was a ruthless mother - bringing her back to New York to do whatever it took to keep her daughter safe.
Natasha had charmed her way past the front desk, flirting with the new faces that were still young and impressionable and revelling in the fact that she still intimidated those who recognized her. Hell, she wasn't sure any of them knew for sure that she and Percival had ended their relationship... And that was fine by her. She wasn't about to correct misinformation when it was doing a wonderful job of creating all the confusion she needed to make a scene within her control. Once she'd caused enough of a commotion for the whispers and scurries of loyal little Aurors to go running off to fetch him, she slips into his office. It's easy enough to get just about anywhere in MACUSA if you're confident enough.
She waits until he comes to her, perched on the edge of his desk as she inspects her nails. Natasha is dressed impeccably in a skirt that hugs her curves and a blouse seemingly tailor-made for her. Heels lightly tap against the wood as she waits, taking in how much hasn't changed. In another time, she might've been visiting for a very different purpose, a stolen moment in between undercover work or a steamy hookup before she had to sit through a boring meeting.
If she scanned the room, she's almost certain she'd find little bits of evidence that she'd once spent too much time within these four walls. She'd given MACUSA and Graves a solid piece of her life and she had no interest in trying to get it back. It was theirs to keep, for better or for worse. By the time he decides to join her, she doesn't waste her breath on pleasantries. ]
There was an attempt on your daughter's life yesterday. It would seem an old friend of ours decided to send someone to intercept Nadya on the way home from school and kill her escorts. Too bad for him, his intel hadn't told him that escort was me. She's fine. Unfortunately, he died before he could tell me anything other than who sent him. They just don't make them like they used to. [ With a sigh, she brushes a fleck of dirt off her skirt before sliding to her feet. She maintains an air of nonchalance, but her eyes hint at just how rattled the fight left her for a moment as her gaze finally rises to meet his. ] Apparently, Grindelwald sends his regards and we have a problem.
